Development of an electrocatalyst that is cheap and has good properties to replace conventional noble metals important for H2 applications. In this study, dealloying amorphous Ti37Cu60Ru3 alloy was performed prepare a free-standing nanostructured hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) catalyst. The effect addition Ru TiCu alloys on the microstructure HER under alkaline conditions investigated. 3 at.% in Ti40Cu60 decreases overpotential reach current density 10 mA cm−2 Tafel slope dealloyed samples 35 34 mV dec−1. improvement electrocatalytic attributed formation nanostructure modification electronic structure First-principles calculations based function theory indicate Gibbs free energy water dissociation. This work presents method efficient via alloys.
